• Faithful to my Homeland, the Republic of Poland

  • The 21st of February 2011 marked the nineteenth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Polish government recognized the Republic of Azerbaijan as a state and expressed readiness to establish interstate relations in its decision from 27th December 1991. Less than a month later, on 24th January 1992, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Krzysztof Skubiszewski sent a letter of invitation to the Chief of Azerbaijani diplomacy, Mr. Hussein Sadikhov. The response came on the 21st February 1992 (according to the Polish proposal, the letter along with the reply constituted an agreement to establish diplomatic relations).

The Polish Embassy in Baku opened in 1998. Until then, the Polish Ambassador in Ankara was responsible for Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani Embassy in Warsaw was established in 2004, previously the Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Kiev was also responsible for Poland.
