    In Azerbaijan the Supreme Audit Office (NIK) together with the local Chamber of Accounts initiated a twinning program financed by the European Commission.

    On 20th November took place a meeting initiating a twinning project entitled: “Strengthening the institutional and administrative capacity of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic Azerbaijan” implemented solely by the Supreme Audit Office (NIK). The opening ceremony was attended by the NIK president K. Kwiatkowski, his deputy W. Kutyła and ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Baku M. Calka.

     

     During his speech president of NIK outlined the history of cooperation of both control institutions, stressing that since 2013 the cooperation has been intensified and it has both bilateral and international dimension. President Kwiatkowski said that NIK was happy and proud to implement a new twinning project, treating it as a prestigious one, thus delegating to it its best specialists.

     

    Ambassador M. Calka remarked that the twinning project carried out by NIK in itself is a reply of Poland and the EU to the signals sent by the Azerbaijani authorities, concerning the need to modernize local economy. For the modernization process to end successfully it is necessary to introduce adequate standards and build a professional and transparent state administration. Ambassador expressed the hope that  Azerbaijan modernization policy and Azerbaijani society will benefit from the project.

     

    The ceremony was also attended by the Head of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic Azerbaijan V. Gulmammadov, ambassador of the EU in Baku K. Jankauskas and the member of Azerbaijani Parliament T. Mirkishili.
