    On 22nd and 23rd of September 2017 in a popular tourist region of Sheki, the European Union Delegation in the Republic of Azerbaijan organized an annual edition of the ”Eurovillage”; within a project „EU Bus Tour to the Regions in Azerbaijan 2017” involving the delegations of the EU Member States in RA.

    The Embassy of the Republic of Poland was represented by the Ambassador, Mr. Marek Calka and his wife; and other employees of the Embassy

     

    On 22nd of September  the students’ debate on tolerance organized in the local branch of the State Pedagogical University in Sheki and witnessed the opening of the “European Corner”  in the university library, to which the embassy donated a set of books.

     

    On 23rd of September 2017 Ambassador Marek Calka together with the heads of missions of the Member States solemnly declared  the ”EuroVillage” Sheki celebrations open. The event was attended by numerous inhabitants of the northern regions of Sheki, Barda, Mingachevir as well as many tourists. The ”EuroVillage” had the character of an open air folk event,  addressed to the families, youths and the elderly alike.

     

    The vast stand of the Polish Embassy attracted the ”EuroVillage” visitors with its diverse offer. Most popular was the photo-corner with the exhibition of the Polish Tourist Organization and a photo-stand of the couple in the Polish folk outfit  of the Lowich region, prepared thanks to the kindness of the State Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw. Volunteers  also lined up to take part in the artistic workshops  for children (using the Polish folk motives), which were organized by the students of the local branch of the State Pedagogical University  in Sheki. A quiz on Poland and the Polish language followed.  The success of Polish presence at „EuroVilllage” was completed by the presentation of the tourist offer based on the promotional materials of the Polish Tourist Organization and the educational materials provided by the Polish institutions of higher education.
